Here is an excellent project or parts bike, please look at the pictures and do your own research, I have no knowledge of these bikes and have struggled trying to find out much detail

It is a Triumph 500cc OHV Twin Port single, the engine turns over as does the gearbox and clutch, and selects all three gears, there is no primary or rear chain

Appears to be a rare Saddle Tank model of 1929
